Introduction

Department of Medicine, SBH is largest department of the hospital. The department takes pride in providing standard treatment to all the patients attending inpatient as well as outpatient department.

Outpatient service is provided by daily Medical OPD and Specialty OPDs as per weekly schedules.

Inpatients are treated in ICU, CCU, High care ward, Medical I, Medical II, Female medical ward, Officer cabin and VIP wards.

The department has large number of faculties trained nationally and internationally to provide services in all major subspecialty.

Sub Specialities

  1. Nephrology
    OPD is conducted on Sunday and Wednesday. Hemodialysis is done daily in 2-3 shifts. Peritoneal dialysis, Kidney biopsy and other services are provided as needed. SBH also provides nephrology services to needy patients as per Nepal Governmnent’s “Bipanna Nagarik Aushadhi Upachar Kosh Nirdeshika”
  2. Endocrine/ Diabetes
    Diabetic OPD is conducted on Tuesdays and Endocrine OPD is conducted on Thursday. Dietary counseling is provided to patients by Dietician during OPD days. Specific tests like biosthesiometer is also provided to needy patients.
  3. Hemato-oncology
    OPD is conducted twice a week on Monday and Thursday. There are dedicated beds provided for inpatients as well as chemotherapy daycare services. Patients get chemotherapy daily in Daycare. There is separate ward for Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. All necessary procedures like Bone marrow studies or intrathecal chemotherapy are provided to needy patients.
  4. Cardiology
    All non interventional cardiology services are provided to the patients. Echo is done for outpatients on Sunday and Wednesday while it is done daily for inpatients. TMT, Holter and ABPM services are also provided as needed  
  5. Gastroenterology
    OPD is conducted on Sunday. Endoscopy and Colonoscopy services are provided to outpatients on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Endoscopy is done for inpatients daily. Basic intervention like Endoscopic variceal ligation, sclerotherapy, polypectomy, PEG tube insertion, foreign body removal are also done as needed.
  6. Neurology
    OPD is conducted on Wednesday. Inpatients are managed daily in wards. EEG, EMG and NCV services will be added soon.
